  1. http://www.mhlearningsolutions.com/commonplace/index.php?q=node/3768 This is relatively similar in the fact that it gives both sides of the argument and responds to how each have flaws. This is different because of the amount of opinion that is in the speech alone. This isn't like an extremely biased paper, but the slang and unformality of the paper shows that it isn't a normal ARP essay and a relaxed commonplace essay.

This essay focuses on how PETA is destroying their message by being to extremist. This essay is similar in the fact that it focuses on one primary source, the PETA ad that was not shown due to being overly sexual. Also the essay has several sources to back up their argument. The essay differs because it uses opinionated, informal language. ALso the essay is trying to presuade people to change their minds about PETAs message, and give alternative choices to PETA. The essay is effective in trying to make people think about animal cruelty in other ways that what PETA portrays.

This essay is about how the increase in tuition and lack of financial aid for middle class families is scaring potential students away from college. Also, the students that do end up attend college by means of student loans are steered away from the public sector i.e. teaching and social work, because realistic they could not pay off their debt while working those jobs. This essay is more informal than the ARP because its use of first person words here and there. The topic itself could be used for an ARP. It also differs from the ARP because it does not give credit to the financial aid system any credit for what it does as is; the essay simply looks down on it for not helping enough people.

This essay talks about how hip-hop has changed since it was created. It talks about how hip-hop started using sex as a way to attract consumers. Due to this fact, hip-hop changed how American's viewed success. The article is very similar to the ARP paper since they use a primary source and use other sources to back it up. It differs in how the paper directs at the audience and how the author assumes the audience knows some information about the topic.

The article talks about the education of non-residence students. I think it is much similar to the ARP style. It has a good argument, which is the relationship between undocumented students and good job opportunities. The language here is formal although some small problems like "can't". But the sources here are different from what used in ARP. For example, it uses an immigrant student's speaking as a support to the article, which is not good source for ARP essay. Basically, the format of this CP article is pretty like ARP style.

This specific article has a lot of opinion behind the argument of college spending. It has great examples and makes the reader really think about their situation and how they are reacting to the environment. This essay is different from an APR because the writer uses the second person frequently. It seems to be more personally persuading than our formal writing style.

This article is similar to the ARP because it uses specific song lyrics as examples and describe how they are derogatory to women. It does not really have a key primary source but has several sources to support the argument. It keeps the argument focused on how hip hop is degrading women and also using sex to attract audience. This is very similar to ARP. But this essay seems to have less research work.

This article states the situation that people become materialistic than before. It analyses it with several contributing factors. It has attractive opinions like it begins when people are child. It is mainly same to ARP style. It has introduction paragraph, body paragraphs and conclusion paragraph. But I cannot find primary source of this article. Also, it appears informal words like "you" and "I" many times. There are numerous inoffical sentences with advices of author which can not show up in ARP style.

This article is more similar to the ARP than other commonplace articles in that its writing is slightly more formal. It is not quite as formal as the ARP because it uses words such as "I, we, us, and you" instead of third person pronouns. The article also involves more opinion than the ARP. The author uses the phrase "I believe" which is something that would never appear in the ARP. The ARP is not a matter of what the author believes but rather what the author can prove using credible sources.

This article discusses the issue of tanning beds nationwide and their relationship to skin cancer. Similar to the ARP it opens with a solid introduction introducing the theses. It presents the argument that tanning beds are a problem and should somehow be stopped from being used. It has solid body paragraphs introducing new ideas. The only issue from the ARP is that it asks questions which ultimately opens up this argument to other peoples ideas.

This paper talks about The Colbert Report,a comedic interpretation of current events in the news by Stephen Colbert on Comedy Central. This paper is diiferent than the ARP because it is much more informal than the ARP and it conveys the writer's opinions of the show instead of taking a more "middle of the road" approach like in the ARP. The paper also does not use multiple resources to support the author's point.

This essay explains how there are some potentially dangerous ingredients in Coke Zero, but drinking in moderation will not actually harm you what so ever. This is different from the ARP proposal because there didn't seem to be as many sources used for information. This essay is much more opinion based than the ARP as well. They also set up links to the sources they do mention. Lastly, this essay contains a lot of sarcasm throughout rather than being straight up with the points it is trying to convey.

This essay talks about how EMA an environmental awareness agency has been using celebrities as models of how to go green. It criticizes this, though, by giving examples of how unrealistic it is for normal people to go to the same measures as celebrities. This essay is different from the ARP because it specifically criticizes, and nearly attacks, celebrities for "acting" as if they are going green, but still being very irresponsible. The use of rhetorical questions, personal references, and informal dialog also set this essay apart from the ARP.

This essay is very different format than that of the ARP. The essay talks about how celebrities are trying to give knowledege to people about politics are to just get people to vote. The author argues that this is not neccesarily a bad thing due to the fact that most people follow celebrities closer than politics. The language is much different though in this type of essay becuase the author uses questions much more and also uses words such as we, us, and I. This is much different from the formal criteria of the ARP.

This blog is not similar to ARP. It is using Taylor Swift as an example to talk about combating typical, scandalous celebrity behavior. In the blog, some sentences are asking questions and they are written in the first person which cannot be seen in ARP. There are many sources in the blog, but the source is not so scientific as ARP’s and there are no citation in the paper.

This essay is talking about the education opportunity for no-resident students and I think it's similar as ARP. The author has a clear argument that american is a land of opportunity for people who are born here. Also it use some sources to support the statement but the source is not like the ARP source style because it isn't as strong as the source in ARP. Another difference between CP and ARP is that the author has many his own ideas and suggestions in the paper.

The essay above fits the arp format to a point that he has a thesis statement at the end of the first paragraph and its also fairly formal to an extent. However the writer does use pronouns occasionally and also asks questions in the middle of the paper.

This article is more pop-culture relevent than our ARP, but otherwise it has the same format. It is unusual in that most Common Place essays have a more informal tone about them, which this one does not.

This talks about how education, higher education in particular, has become less accessible to students that are not American citizens. It follows the arp format in the formal way it is written. The essay does not have personal connections to the audience.
