  1. The primary argument stated by the writer is that there is a problem in the music community of producing songs that are derogatory towards women and in some cases promote domestic violence. The format for his essay is very similar to that of the ARP. He has a solid introduction with which at the end he states his thesis which sets the tone for the rest of his essay. This is a well written essay because the writer does a good job of using specific songs and sources that help support his argument. He also provides counter examples which help his argument as a whole.

  2. The primary argument of this essay is that people are very impressionable, and that music plays a large role as a cause of domestic violence. This essay is similar to the ARP because it states a claim and continues to argue it with outside sources which it analyzes. It does a fair job at this with its sources, but can be confusing at points because the thesis suggests that the essay will be mostly about music encouraging abuse against women while, instead, most of the essay describes how music makes it seem ok to disrespect women and speak derogatorily of them.

  3. The main argument of the essay is that music has a drastic impact on people's perceptions towards issues as serious as domestic violence. I think one of the weaknesses of the essay was its introduction. It should have related domestic violence and music from the beginning. It starts with discussing domestic violence and suddenly throws music in the last line.
The essay is similar to ARP as significant research has been done and statistics are shown to support the argument.
The writer uses specific examples and detailed descriptions which all together make this a quite effective essay.

  4. The primary argument here is that music has large impact on domestic violence because some music portrays domestic violence acceptable. The format of this essay is very similar to the ARP’s. It has introduction, body and conclusion as ARP does. And there are many analyzing of specific sources which support the argument.I think this is an effective essay with clear claim and detailed analyzing.

  5. The primary argument is that domestic violence is a large issue in the united states, and that music, does not help stop the domestic violence. This point is conveyed by having several examples from songs that disrespect or even condone domestic violence. The format is similar to the ARP, however the essay has does not focus on one primary source, but several. Also the essay uses quotes to support their argument, just like the ARP. I would say that the essay was effective at conveying music has a negative impact on domestic violence.

  6. The primary argument of the article is that music has not lead a totally correct direction about domestic violence. It also states the domestic violence problem of us. Music as representation of culture should show the respect of women. It first comes up with background of this problem. Then it points the problem and uses sources to explain it step by step. It is identical to format of ARP. This article explains the problem very clearly and effectively.

  7. This person's primary argument is that music relating to abusive relationships causes listeners to find those actions acceptable. I don't think he was very effective in proving this, however. He only listed a few songs relating to abusive relationships but did not prove his thesis in that these songs are the cause by causing acceptance of the listeners. He had one good supporting quote in the middle but not much past that.

  8. The argument stated in this article is that domestic abuse is still a relevant issue, even on our Ohio State campus. They go about making this argument heavily relying on music lyrics as an embodiment of are culture and therefore our accepted values. The first thing I notice is that many songs don't embody or morals or values but quite the opposite; they tend to be the extremes on either side. Second, the author puts a heavy emphasis on the issues on our campus, bu then quickly abandons it and does not really ever address it again.

  9. How music influences people when it comes to domestic violence is the argument. He conveys this message by stating how domestic violence is still relavent today as it was in the 50's and the stats behind that. Then he discusses the influences music has on the issue from the good and bad side. As for his essay he discussed Ohio State becuase he was trying to put domestic violence in perspective for those who don't know what it's like, but it really didn't do much for the paper and he only related it to Ohio state students instead of people in general. Otherwise he gets his point across and its an effective essay

  10. The main argument presented in this article talks about messages in music and their relationship to domestic abuse. After listing how abuse has slightly changed from the early 50s. By using examples from the lyrics of songs the author focuses on the mistreatment of women in American culture. Identical to the ARP, this article focuses on a problem and uses examples to back their argument up. Through the use of specific examples the author gets his/her point across that domestic abuse is still a major issue in American culture that needs to be solved.

  11. The argument in this article is that domestic violence can be caused by the subliminal messages in the music we listen to. I agree with many of my peers that he has good supporting details to help his article much like ARP. There are many subliminal messages in music we listen to today and plenty of people base their lifes off the artist they listen to. This is an easy, but great topic to write about.

  12. The argument here is that domestic violence is overlooked because some music contains it and makes it acceptable. The argument is conveyed by some facts and statistics/numbers. The format is like ARP and the thesis is good and effective.

  13. The primary argument in this article is that present music and musicians can have an influence on domestic violence at home. It is a very descriptive essay with many good points, which creates an argument clearly. I think, however, that the musicians themselves are to blame for domestic violence rather than just their songs. In the end the essay did make me more aware of domestic violence.

  14. The argument here is domestic violence is a public issue that caused by the message from the music. In the beginning of the article, it presents the phenomenon and statement, then provide some details to support the statement. I think his format is similar as ARP. But i don't think he is effective because he just point several songs and we don't know whether it is a truth that people always listen to the meaning that music portrays.

  15. The argument that this article makes is music that is derogatory towards women can be linked to domestic violence cases. The style this essay is written in is much like that of the APR, it has an intro and conclusion, as well as, several body paragraphs giving different examples helping to solidify her argument. This piece is different because the introduction is three paragraphs and not one. I do think that is essay is effective because the topic is relevant. Domestic violence is everywhere, and even though we do not see much if any on campus, it is happening in the city of Columbus.

  16. The primary argument is that today's music does nothing to speak out against domestic violence and in some cases song's actually portray domestic violence as something that is acceptable.

  17. The primary argument is how today's music connect to domestic violence. The argument is conveyed through an example and pulling out specific parts from that music example to show how domestic violence is integrated into it. It's similar to the ARP by how we're required to use facts to support a subjective topic.

  18. The primary argument is that domestic violence does exist in our society whether we chose to believe in it or not. Also that music doesnt call out against it, instead, music might portray it as acceptable in some song lyrics.

  19. I agree with steven cowles when he says that the main argument is how music influences men to domestic violence and to make people find it okay to beat women. It is uncalled for for people to make lyrics like that when there is so much else you can sing about. However, I feel like it is unlike the ARP because there isn't a lot of formality in this paper. We discussed the difference between ARP's and commonplace in class today.

  20. The primary explains the unknown behind our music which we sing along to daily. Its scary to know that our musicians hold a lot of accountability with the direction our society is going because we know that their drive for good music is based on their income. And their income is based on us, if we like and buy the music or not. I feel that this paper is like an APR because it doesn't have any bias situations and it states primary examples to help support its reason for writing. Its a very effective essay because it opens the eyes to many, showing how much power WE actually have instead of the idol we make of the artist.

The primary argument in this essay is that the federal government should not cut funding to NASA because NASA has contributed to benefit society. The format of this essay is not as formal as the ARP and some personal approaches were taken like asking the reader a question, another way this essay differs from the ARP is that the argument is bias and all the sources to support it are bias too.
