For your final blog entry, you will need to do two things.
1) Write a brief post highlighting what you felt was the most helpful and least helpful part of the quarter.
2) Produce a meme with a picture taken from the following photobucket page: http://s122.photobucket.com/albums/o256/theinfraggablecrunk/Class%20Lols/. You will select a photo from that page and then upload it to a meme creator either at http://builder.cheezburger.com/builder/ or at http://www.quickmeme.com/make/. You should include the URL to your meme or just the image file on your blog post. You are free to make whatever meme you'd like, but try to keep it tasteful.

The most helpful part of the quarter was analyzing sources to find the messages that advertisements hid in these ad's to appeal to a certain audience.

I agree with Hemza. The most helpful I learned this quarter was how to analyze a source to that extent. I also feel that my writing evolved from last year to now.

I agree with the above two posts about analyze a source to the depth that we did in the course was helpful, however I feel that maybe having a class where we analyzed content together would have been helpful. The least helpful was commonplace because no one actually reads that stuff unless forced to by a school. Another helpful thing was the wide variety of writing styles that we wrote in (blogs, one source paper, multi source research paper, persuasive)

ReplyDeleteThrough this quarter, I learn the right way to analyze one resource. By writing ARP, my essay becomes more specific and logic than before. By writing Commonplace essay, I know to write one timely, compelling and relevant essay. Also, it's very helpful for me to analyze commonplace essay as a group.

I think the most helpful and skill developing practice we did this quarter was to analyze ads with a different perspective. I also feel that doing a variety of writing assignments like ARP and Commonplace helped as develop the different kinds of approach and style we need to keep in mind while writing different kinds of papers.

I think the most helpful practice was to analyze a resource to develop a topic deeply. Also I think by writing ARP I know how to use a main source to develop the statement and use many second resources to support it. Different writings also helps me practice different kinds of writing styles and improve my writing skills.

I think the most helpful part of this quarter is that the ARP essay helps me a lot on analyzing and developing a paper. It is also helpful for me to work on my grammar problems. However, the least helpful part of the quarter I think is the commonplace essay. Although it is helpful for me to review others’ essay in order to develop mine, writing a commonplace essay is unnecessary.

The most helpful part of this year was the in depth analysis that we participated in. While the least helpful was the book readings. I feel the readings were easy enough just for you to cover quickly in class.

I feel the most important part of class was the ARP research. It allowed us to know credible vs. non credible sources. Least important was the Writing Analytically book. It didn't really further broaden my knowledge of writing.

The most helpful part of the class was finally getting used to asking myself "so what?" before i turned in a paper. I now find it a habit as we finished with the final paper and then the commonplace. I know i will now incorporate this in my future papers.

The most helpful part of class was the ARP project because it helped learn how to better form arguments and how to support it as well. I feel it helped my ability to create thesis statements which clearly expressed my argument. The readings from the book were probably the least helpful.

I think the most helpful part of the class is the blog project. I learn effectively how to come up with the thesis statements and arguments for the sources gave. I also know lots of about the sex and media and other interesting stuff from every blog entry. The weakest part is probably the text book reading, it does not really help in my writing; it is okay but the worst compared to others.

Most helpful thing in this course is to improve my analytical thinking. I learned how should I support my thesis statement and how to organize my essay. The least helpful thing is commonplace. Actaully, we didnt talk a lot about commonplace compared with ARP project.

The best part of the course was learning how to relate the 'So what?' goals of our papers. The worst was trying to guess when bog projects were due.
